Grin and Bear It?

There are some people out there that try our every nerve. We've met them. They're cruel, they're cranky, and it takes every ounce of strength to keep our cool around them. Of course, we're called not only just to keep our calm, but to show a deeper love than we would voluntarily show. "If you love those who love you, what credit is it to you?" There's the challenge. Yet, that's exactly what one waitress in Texas did - for nearly seven years. Yes, it was her job, but she did it faithfully, smiling and serving kindly a "loyal" but "cantankerous customer." In the end, it turned out that although he never showed it, her kindness and hospitality meant more to him than she could ever know. The cranky war veteran had written her into his will, leaving her $50,000 and a 2000 Buick. Who would have known! Of course, I'm sure her reward in heaven will be a thousand-fold for making a cranky old man feel just as welcome as the nicest customer...
