7 Year Old Hero Right in Detroit...
Alexis Goggins isn't like other little 7 year olds. Instead of riding her bike down the street, she is riding a tricycle in physical therapy to get her motor skills back after being shot 6 times two months ago. How did this girl suffer such a fate? She was shielding her mother from a shooter who jumped in the car they were in. Though no one is sure if she knew what she was doing, her boldness saved the life of her mother.

Grin and Bear It?
There are some people out there that try our every nerve. We've met them. They're cruel, they're cranky, and it takes every ounce of strength to keep our cool around them. Of course, we're called not only just to keep our calm, but to show a deeper love than we would voluntarily show. "If you love those who love you, what credit is it to you?" There's the challenge. Yet, that's exactly what one waitress in Texas did - for nearly seven years. Yes, it was her job, but she did it faithfully, smiling and serving kindly a "loyal" but "cantankerous customer." In the end, it turned out that although he never showed it, her kindness and hospitality meant more to him than she could ever know. The cranky war veteran had written her into his will, leaving her $50,000 and a 2000 Buick. Who would have known! Of course, I'm sure her reward in heaven will be a thousand-fold for making a cranky old man feel just as welcome as the nicest customer...Read more...

The Good Mexican...er, Samaritan...
Regardless of what your feeling may be on the policies surrounding immigration in the United States, it is clear that the Lord had great use for the migrant who passed through the desert country over the long Thanksgiving weekend. Having made the trek across the border and nearing safety, Jesus Manuel Cordova, 26, instead surrendered his own freedom to help a 9 year old boy who crossed his path.

The boy and his mother had been camping in the area, but his mother had veered off the road while driving. Seeing his mother seriously injured and trapped, the boy climbed out of the vehicle in search of help. Enter Senor Cordova. Unable to free the mother or to find help, Cordova stayed with the boy through the night, building a bonfire and giving him his jacket for warmth. Sadly, the boy's mother died from the injuries sustained during that time (and he had just lost his father not two months before.) However, they were able to locate help the next morning as the border patrol responded to their call. Cordova was taken into custody and returned to Mexico, and the boy is waiting to be reunited with family members.

And You Will Heal the Sick...
8 Limbed Girl Recovering from Reconstructive Surgery
BANGALORE, India - A toddler girl born with 8 limbs underwent major reconstructive surgery to remove the remains of the conjoined twin attached to her. The family had been seeking a medical solution to their daughter's condition, but were unable to afford the procedure. But after they had to place Lakshmi in hiding from a circus who tried to buy her, a solution presented itself. The entire procedure and all related medical costs were covered by the Bangalore hospital's foundation, as the family was unable to afford medical treatment on their meager income of $1/day. Doctors at Sparsh Hospital in Bangalore said they were performing the surgery, which they estimated cost $625,000, for free because the girl's family could not afford the medical bills. A Real Life Good Samaritan
Man Saves Stranger from Burning Car
On a drive home from his son's football game, Jonathon Tucker saw flames coming from a car that had crashed down a steep hill. By instinct, he stopped, told his son to stay by the car, and ran down to help anyone trapped in the car to safety. Along with another man who was trying to help, the two managed to pull a nearly unconscious man out of the car minutes before it was engulfed in flames. Jesus replied, "A man fell victim to robbers as he went down from Jerusalem to Jericho. They stripped and beat him and went off leaving him half-dead. A priest happened to be going down that road, but when he saw him, he passed by on the opposite side. Likewise a Levite came to the place, and when he saw him, he passed by on the opposite side. But a Samaritan traveler who came upon him was moved with compassion at the sight. He approached the victim, poured oil and wine over his wounds and bandaged them. Then he lifted him up on his own animal, took him to an inn and cared for him. The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper with the instruction, 'Take care of him. If you spend more than what I have given you, I shall repay you on my way back.' Which of these three, in your opinion, was neighbor to the robbers' victim?" He answered, "The one who treated him with mercy." Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise." Luke 10:30-37

Welcome to the Good News!
Is it just me, or does it seem like these days "news" is synonomous with "bad news"?? Being overwhelmed by the suffering in the world can drain a spirit, and our spirits are called to be the light of the world. We are called to share the GOOD NEWS of Jesus Christ! So it is, that Genesis Ministries will be "publishing" the Good News Gazette, filled with stories of people, places and things that show the world the goodness of God and lift our spirits a little higher. If you hear news stories you want to share, email them to us at info@genesis-ministries.org and we'll check them out. Know of people working to make a difference? Let us know that too and we'll try to get them on here! For now, let's just go forward sharing our commitment to share the good news of the Gospel.
And the angel said to them, "Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people; for to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:10-11
